About The Faithful Road

Mason’s birthplace should have predicted his life’s path as much as anything could. Born in Memphis he grew up around the city of Soul, Blues, Rock n Roll, Sun Studios and a peculiar DJ who was responsible for setting Elvis Presley on his famous path, Dewey Phillips. At a very early age, Mason would pretend to be a DJ. His love of music eventually led him to play in several local and nationally known bands. One early morning after playing a gig all night only to finish just as the sun was rising, he decided there had to be a better course. Soon after the early morning he landed his first radio job. Now, nearly 50 years later, he is still in love with talking to his audience and playing the music he loves with the majority of those 50 years being spent here in the Tampa Bay area.

In 2005, all of this nearly ended prematurely. Traveling down a well known road in Tampa, his vintage car was cut nearly in half by a young person who lost control on the 2 lane road. Thanks to God’s grace, the right people had the skills needed to save his life. He spent 4 days in ICU and 9 days after being in critical condition he was broadcasting live from his home. This event was the turning point and his determination to give thanks to God for saving his life.

This is when he chose to create a format for Contemporary Christian music that would fill the airways. Now, almost 20 years later, The Faithful Road is being broadcast world wide and locally through two low powerFM radio stations. It was born through his charity Mason Dixon Christmas Wish Fund that provides assistance for Tampa Bay families in need.

His family is a big part of why he is still in Tampa. Married to Patricia for 43 years, they have 2 daughters, 2 sons in law, and 4 amazingly loveable grandbabies. Ages 4, 3, 2 & 1, the grandkids are certain to be taught the joy of God, family, music and following the path set by a loving God…albeit loud…and FUN! Make a Joyful noise unto the Lord! AMEN!
